The biogeography and ecology research group of Banna botanical garden participated in the special meeting of biogeography in 2019 and commemorating the 250th anniversary of Humboldt
From August 5 to 9, the special meeting on biogeography and commemoration of the 250th anniversary of Humboldt in 2019 was held in Quito, Ecuador. Alexander von Humboldt, the founder of modern geography, explored the relationship between geology, ecology and biodiversity, and laid the foundation of biogeography. This conference mainly reviewed its great contributions in modern geography, biology, climatology and other fields. Therefore, the conference site was selected in Ecuador, the most symbolic place in Humboldt research. The conference is aimed at exploring the relationship between climate change, geological history change and biodiversity from multiple fields and scales, attracting many biogeographers from all over the world. It is an ideal platform for expanding research horizons, displaying self scientific research achievements, and strengthening exchanges and cooperation with international peers. Ding Wenna and Zhang Qiuyue, researcher Xing Yaowu and doctoral student of biogeography and ecology research group of Banna botanical garden, participated in the meeting, and presented their opinions on the topics of "ancient origin, divergent routes and evolutionary history of Ulmaceae: a botanical approach" and "ecological approach" respectively "The origin and assembly of the alpine organism in the Hengduan Mountains" and "long distance distant or distant through land bridges—— An integrated biogeographic study of Juglandaceae based on molecular and fossil evidence "was presented in the poster and oral report. The new methods applied in the series of achievements attracted the attention of the participants, and had in-depth exchange and learning with international experts and peers in relevant fields, which laid the foundation for further extensive exchanges and cooperation. Through this meeting, the biogeography and ecology research group of Banna botanical garden not only systematically demonstrated the origin and evolution history of plant diversity in Hengduanshan alpine region, but also demonstrated the integrated biogeography research based on molecular and fossil evidence, taking Juglandaceae and Ulmaceae as examples, expanding the international influence of Banna botanical garden in the field of historical biogeography.
